Privacy Policy

Summary, in one sentence

Cleanup runs entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data — because we have no servers and no analytics.

1. Who we are

Cleanup (“the app”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is published by Vilgot Moeschlin, an individual developer based in Sweden, in the role of data controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data the app accesses on your device

Cleanup needs access to your Photos library to function. With your explicit permission (granted via the system prompt at first launch, as required by Apple iOS), the app:

Reads photos and videos to display them as swipe cards
Reads metadata (date, dimensions, file size, duration) to show on each card
Submits a deletion request to iOS when you confirm a batch delete

All of this happens locally on your device. Your photos, videos, and any data derived from them never leave your device, never reach our servers, and are never seen by us.

3. What data we receive when you purchase Pro

When you purchase “Cleanup Pro” as an in-app purchase, Apple processes the transaction as the App Store payment processor. We do not see your payment details, your name, or your Apple ID.

Apple provides us only with aggregated, anonymised sales reports (for example: “10 units sold in Sweden this week”). These reports cannot be used to identify any individual user.

4. Data we do not collect

To be explicit, Cleanup does not collect:

Your name, email, phone number, or address
Your IP address or device identifiers
Crash logs or analytics
Photo content, metadata, or deletion history
Browsing or usage patterns

We use no third-party SDKs that collect data. There are no cookies, trackers, or advertising networks.

To the extent any processing occurs:

6. Data retention

We retain no personal data because we collect none. Apple’s standard transaction record retention applies to your in-app purchase and is governed by Apple’s policies.

As a person whose data is governed by the GDPR, you have the right to:

Access any personal data we hold about you
Rectify any inaccuracies
Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”)
Restrict or object to processing
Data portability
Withdraw consent at any time (revoke photo access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → PhotoSwipe)
Lodge a complaint with the Swedish supervisory authority, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), at https://www.imy.se

Because we hold no personal data, in practice there is nothing for us to access, rectify, or erase. To exercise any right, contact vilgot@moeschlin.com and we will respond within 30 days.

8. International data transfers

We do not transfer any personal data internationally because we do not collect any. Apple’s processing of your in-app purchase may involve transfers governed by Apple’s own contractual safeguards.

9. Children

Cleanup is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact vilgot@moeschlin.com.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the Effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users in the next app update.
